Ahlan and sahlan to my little corner of the internet!
My name is Jessica, and I am an independent scholar in religious studies. I completed my PhD at Oxford in 2016. Follow me on twitter!
My research focuses on the intellectual and theological interactions between Christianity and Islam in the first centuries of Islam. In particular, my research looks at chronicles, sermons, apologetics, apocalypses and heresiologies to understand how interactions between Islam and Christianity affected both sides’ conception of their own relationship to God.
I have articles in Studies in Church History (vols. 48 and 49) and the proceedings of the AHRC-funded “Change and Continuity in Late Antiquity” project. I’m currently working on revising my doctoral thesis for publication, as well as a book on the history of religious freedom cases in the US Supreme Court.
Although academia does seem to consume my life at the moment, I swear I once had outside interests! I love 60s rock, scifi and fantasy novels, comic books and breakfast foods.
Also, I once fell asleep in the Pentagon.
